Setting the Scene
We start with “Where does the scene take place?” (and that’s the prompt for today). But we can add depth for the reader: time of day, sensory experiences, attitudes of the characters to this place and time, how it compares to other settings . . .
Here is a list of questions, not just one prompt. Pick a couple aspects to make sure your scene is grounded in “real” space. (On the sidebar is a link to “The #1 Reason You’ll Never Finish Writing Your Novel” that’s a good read for fellow procrastinators.)
